Loggerhead Sea Turtles live in cool, luke-warm waters. These turtles don’t spend much time in any place before moving. Sometimes, the turtles never go back to where they were born for over 10 years. When born, Loggerheads race down to the ocean and swim for 20-22 hours straight! Leaving the beach and going out towards the food source is very important. This journey is tiring so they eat some plants along the way that they wouldn’t normally eat.

Loggerhead Turtles are carnivorous. Their hard, strong jaws can crush the shells of crabs, clams, and mollusks too. These turtles are also prey to many things like raccoons, pigs, bears and sharks. Even humans prey on turtles.

Their strong jaws and flat flippers help them eat and move, but the hard shell on their back helps protect the turtles in case of an attack by sharks or other predators. Even the size of their shell matters. The largeness of their shell keeps them from being dragged down.

These sea turtles live in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. Normally, they can be found around the Florida, Georgia, and North and South Carolina coasts. The temperatures of the water below the Florida coast can sometimes be too warm for these turtles.
